must have plugins when starting a blog

    My favorite free WP plugins:

    Yoast SEO

Yoast makes setting up SEO (Search Engine Optimization) on your website super easy. It suggests ways to improve your posts so that you rank higher in search engines like Google – aka so you can be found online and gain more readers.

JetPack may be one of the best free plugins out there, as it combines several must-have blog features that you would normally have to pay for elsewhere. JetPack offers analytics, anti-spam & security, social share buttons, and so much more.

    Related Posts (Included in JetPack)

It’s wise to include a ‘Related Posts’ tab to the end of every post, to encourage readers to continue reading. This feature comes with JetPack, and comes with the option to include the post’s featured image – which is awesome! The only thing is that it crops your image, and doesn’t give the option to change how it crops. In my case I use Pinterest style images, and the crop cut out half of the image’s information. So I use a little CSS to fix this, to make the images stay at their Pinterest-ready shape. You can read how to do that here.

    W3 Total Cache

Cache plugins are used to speed up your site. This one is great because it saves a static HTML version of your website, instead of generating pages one by one. This takes less strain on your server, creating a faster more user-friendly site, and ultimately better search rankings.

AddToAny Social Share & Follow Buttons

This is the floating bar of share buttons that you see on the left side of my site, or on the bottom if you are on mobile. It is clean and out of the way, yet impossible to miss at the same time. Exactly what share buttons should be! With AddToAny your readers can easily share your content across pretty much every social network – which is awesome! Plus with simple tweaks, you can customize the look of the buttons however you like.

    Mashshare Share Buttons

This is what I use for my FB Share, Twitter Tweet, and Toolkit Access buttons at the bottom of every post. What I love about this plugin, is that in addition to these share buttons. Similar to Yoast, Mashshare allows you to input images and keywords for each post as you’d like it to appear when shared on Facebook and Twitter, but also Pinterest. They have a handy site for tips on how to customize the buttons to suit your brand – Here

    UpdraftPlus – Backup/Restore

Backing up your site is a must, and this free service allows you to backup and store the files to a storage app of your choosing such as Google Docs, Dropbox and more.

    Coming Soon by Supsystic

While you are working on your website, its good to have a ‘coming soon’ page that visitors can see and interact with before you go live with your finished site. I used this plugin to have an image and a ‘subscribe’ box opt-in up on many of my sites before I was ready to launch.

How to improve the speed of the word press website?

    Hey, everyone

In this busy world, no one has time to wait for a website to load, so that 40-45 % of people leave your site and move to another site. WordPress is the most favorite CMS framework nowadays and of course my favorite one but it has some drawbacks such as speed issues. It’s due to third-party plugins that we are using on the WordPress website.

In this article, I am going to show you how to drastically improve the speed of your WordPress website. So Let’s discuss step by step.

    1. Go to the Google PageSpeed Insights.

How to improve the speed of the word press website

    2. Enter the URL and click “Analyze”. You will see the results with suggestions.

How to improve the speed of the word press website

Perfect!. 91/100. However, if your site is not fully optimized you will see the below results.

How to improve the speed of the word press website

Those are the suggestions from Google to improve the site speed along with the explanations of how to fix. Let’s see how to fix those issues using free WordPress plugins.

    1. Use a Great Caching Plugin W3 Total Cache:

Go to Plugins -> Add New-> Search for W3 Total Cache.

Install and activate the plugin. This plugin used to minify JavaScript, CSS & Leverage browser caching.

After successfully activated the plugin. Go to dashboard and hover over performance. Click General Setting. Remember one thing, You should backup of your website and database before enabling minify CSS & javascript because sometimes it does conflict the CSS files.

If you’ve got static images, CSS and Javascript on your website that rarely change, browser-side caching can help make your site snappier.

Caching involves storing parts of your site so they only need to be loaded once instead of every time a user visits your site. Caching is especially helpful for your return visitors, as well as others who visit several pages of your site.

W3 Total Cache is a popular caching plugin for WordPress used by sites like Mashable(their CTO created W3TC), Smashing MagazineWeb Designer Depotand WPBeginner. The plugin promises a 10 times improvement in overall site performance when fully (and properly) configured.

WP Super Cache is a more user-friendly alternative and you don’t need to be a server expert to set it up.

    Compress Images

Images are usually the largest files on a site so if they aren’t compressed they can take ages to load.

Luckily there are some great tools out there to help you compress your files.

WP Smush.it, now managed and supported by WPMU DEV, automatically strips meta data from JPEGs and removes unused colors from indexed images.

Tiny PNG is another great tool, which allows also strips un-used colors for lossy compressions.

If you use a lot of images on your site, you might want to implement lazy loading. The Lazy Load plugin allows you to only load images above the fold when a new visitor arrives at your site. Images load once a user starts scrolling down the page. This technique not only speeds up page load times, but also saves bandwidth for users who don’t scroll all the way to the bottom of your pages.

    Minify HTML, CSS and Javascript

In other words, remove all white space from code where possible.

While spaces and tabs make code more readable for humans, servers and browsers couldn’t care less as long as it’s valid and executes without error.

Rather than manually sift through your code with a fine tooth comb, plugin’s like WP Minify and W3 Total Cache can handle this at runtime.

    Cut Down on HTTP Requests

Every time someone visits a page on your site, the corresponding files must be sent to that person’s browser, including images, CSS files andJavascript library references. So if you have a HTML file, two CSS files, five Javascript files and eight images, that’s a total of 16 files that need to be loaded.

By reducing the number of objects in your site’s pages, you can minimize the number of HTTP requests that are required to render a page, speeding up load times.

One way to do this is by simplifying the design of your site, and combining files such as scripts and CSS. The minify section in W3 Total Cache allows you to add your CSS and Javascript files so you can easily combine them into one file.

    Optimize Database Tables

Optimizing your database tables is like defragging your computer or changing the oil in your car – it will help free up space and keep your database running smoothly.

You can optimize your database tables manually using phpMyAdmin or with a plugin.

WP-DBManager allows you to optimize, repair, backup and restore your database.

There’s also WP-Optimize, another database cleanup and optimization tool. This plugin also lets you remove post revisions, comments in the spam queue, un-approved comments and items in trash.

Other than this Good host is also very important for know about good hosting websites Wanna know Best WordPress Hosting!!.

This is a quick round-up of simple measures you can put in place to speed up your pages.

Optimizing your site can make a big difference in site speed, encouraging them to stick around and engage with your content.

These tips shouldn’t take very long to put in place and for the effort you put in you’ll get a speedier site and happier visitors.

the best free website analysis tools

There are certain parameters regarding the selection of a good and trustworthy website monitoring tool for your website. A number of businesses have a lot to say about website monitoring and their experiences regarding a website monitoring tool. There are always a lot of thought process involved when it comes to implementing a website monitoring tool. The doubts are generally related to economy, efficiency, and reliability of the tool to monitor your website.

Some of the most successful website owners have found website monitoring tool as the key factor to keep the website going. There are a lot of monitoring tools out there, but choosing the one which fulfills all your needs, are rare. You always need to be alert about your website and its health and it is hard to trust any website randomly to monitor your website. To find the best website monitoring tool, here are some of the tips:

Identifying your Website Requirements and the tool

There are two primary types of website monitoring services including passive monitoring and the other is real-time website monitoring. If your site isn’t driven by profits, then passive website monitoring can be very helpful for you and your business. But if your site is online to generate leads, sales, and profit, there may be a requirement of a real-time website monitoring service. With that being said, there is still a large number of tools and services choose from.

Identifying your requirements is one of the major parts of getting a good website monitoring service. Once you have identified your needs, you have to start learning about various website services to available in the market. On closely analyzing various tools, you can make a decision on which one to implement on your website.

    Server Locations and Analytics

Every monitoring service has server or a series of servers to keep their monitoring intact and consistent. During choosing a website to monitor, you should be capable of making a decision for the best tool to choose.

In such cases, there are some questions you should ask yourself; how will the tool response in times of power outage? What happens if a server error occurs? If the company only has one server on duty? In any case, would your site be left unprotected and you won’t know if it goes down. What you need is a website monitoring service that offers multiple servers in multiple locations, acting as a failsafe. If one server or even an entire location goes down, there are other servers and other locations in place to pick up the slack and protect your site’s uptime while the issue is resolved.

    Alerts and Contacts

The second thing you need to know is how the company will alert you if your website does experience an outage. Will you receive a phone call or text message, or will you just receive an email? If email is the only form of notification, the service is not going to meet your needs. It is unlikely that you will receive an email sent in the middle of the night or the wee hours of the morning until you wake up and begin your daily routine. This means your site can be down for hours before you even become aware of it. A phone call or text message, on the other hand, can wake you up when downtime occurs so you can get to work immediately to fix the issue at hand.

    Monetary Considerations

Another thing to consider is how you will be charged. Are you being charged an all-inclusive flat monthly fee regardless of how often your site goes down? Or are you being charged a small monthly fee plus an additional fee for each time you receive a downtime notification? Rather than paying a larger all-inclusive monthly fee, it may be wiser to pay a smaller monthly fee and then only pay for a number of services you actually receive, such as a set amount per phone and/or SMS text notification.

Here I have written how a hacker actually pentests a website, and at the end of the post you will find some of the best website pentesting tools available.

Been a Hacker doesn’t been you just pick up tools and attack.Trust me following the proper method is always more fun and definitely gives a professional kick.

Information Gathering – During IG, the hacker searches for useful information that has been leaked onto the Internet about the application or organization . This information can vary from targets names to source code to email address of the regular user or in case of poorly developed website admin account login credentials .

Most noobie skip this step Please avoid this mistake ,the more you know your target ,better are your chances of succeeding.

Mapping – During the mapping phase, the hacker interacts with the various components of the website. This phase provides them an understanding of the functionality and transactions available within the web application. This step is important as it helps in finding flaws and vulnerabilities within the site.

Exploitation – Exploitation comes in many forms depending on the vulnerability you have. In many cases, the goal is to retrieve data or gain full access to the systems. Using a tool like Laudanum to get a shell on a system and then add local users is a great window of opportunity.

Don’t forget Metasploit, as it is the god placing numerous exploitations. This step is useless if you have’t done the above steps , because then you practically dont know anything about the website.

Post-Exploitation – After all the heavy lifting ,the hacker makea sure to leave a back door in the site ,which would enable them an easy access in future preventing them from doing all the work again.

Tools every hacker must have in their toolbox

Nikto – Nikto is an open source web server scanning tool that can identify web server versions, mis- configurations, and a large list of vulnerable files Nikto2 | CIRT.net

Laudanum – Laudanum is a collection of web scripts that can be deployed to a vulnerable server to provide file browsing and shell functionality on the affected system. These scripts come in many languages, including The Official Microsoft ASP.NET Site, Java, and PHP. Laudanum

BeEF – The Browser Exploitation Framework (BeEF) is an excellent tool while performing a web pen test. The framework makes it really easy to exploit the browser using identified cross-site scripting flaws. Once exploited, it may be possible to pivot from the outside to the inside of a network. BeEF – The Browser Exploitation Framework Project

The Steps Should Be Performed After Installation Of A WordPress Site

I personally recommend the below mentioned to do steps after fresh Installation of WordPress

There are few steps that need to be considered right after installing WordPress website or before writing any content to the site. It is advisable to change the default settings to improve the performance and security factor on the website.
The steps are bifurcated in below-mentioned subcategories –

    Highly Secured

    · Generate Authentication keys

WordPress is a platform which uses authentication keys and salts to encrypt the information stored in WordPress cookies and prevent account from the potential hackers. In a nutshell, it can be said that authentication keys and salts play the chief role in securing WordPress site. For further information, click on:

    i. Get new authentication keys and salts from below link: https://api.wordpress.org/secret…

ii. Open wp-config.php file in text editor and tick for Authentication key area and replace that content with the new one.

    · Configure backups

Backups are important backbone for any site. It helps to recover the site in case if the server crash or when at time of new host. There are a wide range of free and premium backup plugins available that creates a backup of website and keep the site safe and robust.

    SEO Effective

    · Edit Permalink Structure

Permalinks are nothing but the URLs of the content one publishes on their website. After installing WordPress, first step recommended by most of the WordPress developers is to edit default Permalink structure. It looks something like this:

The above-mentioned link is not searched engine friendly. In order to make the URL SEO friendly, change the Permalink structure. The common permalink structure is the post name. Simply click on Settings >> Permalinks in WordPress Admin Panel and change permalink and set it accordingly.

    · Install Google Analytics

Google Analytics provides the detailed information about who visits site, how visitors are responding to site, what they are actually looking in site and how long visitor stays on particular webpage or information. Sign up and integrate Google Analytics to your site. This gives a detailed information regarding the website traffic.

    · Prevent Google Indexing the wp core files & scripts

Google and other search engines crawl and index WordPress theme or scripts pretty easily resulting in reduce page rank or SEO value. In order to fix this, a developer needs to create or open the robots.txt file from the root of the WordPress and by adding following code:

    1. Useragent: *
    2. Disallow: /wp-admin/
    3. Disallow: /wp-includes/
    4. Disallow: /wp-content/themes/
    5. Disallow: /wp-content/plugins/

    Captivating WordPress site

    · Select an appropriate WordPress theme

To make WordPress blog look more attractive change default style to any of the best-looking WordPress themes that suit blog. There are plenty of free and premium looking themes available for your blog. To install themes, click on Appearance >> Themes. Choose a theme which is attractive as well as in match with your blog talking point.

    · Activate Caching

Quick responsive site is necessary to keep visitors engaged on the site. By installing a caching plugin like W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache, one can reduce the overall page load times. Caching is a fairly complicated process but in a layman’s language it can be defined as fetching the dynamic output of a WordPress site which is ultimately stored in the cache and served to each and every new visitor from that cache in particular.

    · Keep updating your profile

Update or add as much information as possible to your potential visitors to gain more and more visitors to your website. Change the passwords and contact details by updating your profile. This helps users to fetch more information and a bridge of trust is developed, helping in business enhancement.

    Add-on Attributes

    · Activate the Antispam plugin

Comment spamming is the most irritating factors available on the freshly installed WordPress site. Comment spams, pingbacks, trackbacks can be deal in two ways. One is to remove spam comments manually or by installing the Antispam plugin. The plugin ends up saving an adequate amount of time and keeping your website away from such comment spam.

    · Install essential plugins

Plugins are implemented to add-on extra features in website. There are some important plugins every blogger needs to install for better performance of their website. For example:

    i. WordPress SEO by Yoast – One of the highly ranked plugins, Yoast provides a great way to sell all the pages and post for search engines to find the content of your website. Most of the WordPress developer believes the plugin to be best to optimize the site.

ii. W3 Total Cache – Another important plugin used by most of the WordPress development companies to improve the page speed and user experience of the website with caching is W3 Total Cache. The plugin caches all the static content of your website and improves the speed of your website.

iii. Contact form 7 – A simple and popular plugin for WordPress used to manage multiple contact forms.

iv. WP-Smush.it – The plugin helps in compressing images without losing their quality to reduce page load time and speed up the WordPress website.

    v. Security plugin – In order to protect as well as secure the site from malicious attacks. Although there are ample of security plugins available that help you protect your website from such attacks.

Mentioned points are more important than other steps to be executed after a fresh installation of the WordPress site. Faster reach, highly secure, attractive and extensive plugin based features are main benefits of following the steps.

This are just my suggestions, feedback and recommendations are most welcome!
